IDEKO to showcase advanced manufacturing solutions at MetalMadrid 2026

IDEKO to showcase advanced manufacturing solutions at MetalMadrid 2026
  • The Research Centre will present its expertise in improving the efficiency and precision of grinding and milling operations at MetalMadrid on 4–5 November.

  • IDEKO will also highlight its R&D capabilities in machine dynamics, vibration diagnosis and suppression, advanced simulation and industrial digitalisation.

  • Visitors can meet the IDEKO team at stand 4G03 in Hall 4 of IFEMA Madrid, as part of the joint exhibition space organised by the Spanish Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (AFM).

Improving manufacturing precision, increasing productivity and reducing vibrations that affect machine performance remain major challenges for industry. To help manufacturers address these issues, IDEKO, a technology centre and member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA), will showcase its expertise and technological solutions at MetalMadrid 2026, taking place on 4–5 November, with a focus on making advanced manufacturing processes more efficient and competitive.

IDEKO's participation will place particular emphasis on grinding and 5 axis milling, two machining operations where precision, stability and control of cutting conditions are essential to achieving consistent part quality. These technologies are particularly relevant to demanding industries such as aerospace, energy, automotive and capital goods manufacturing. In these sectors, IDEKO combines an in-depth understanding of the physical phenomena involved in machining with advanced simulation, monitoring and control technologies.

In precision grinding, IDEKO's R&D activities focus on improving process stability, optimising machining parameters and controlling the factors that influence surface finish and dimensional accuracy. This expertise helps manufacturers increase productivity, minimise defects and achieve more reliable grinding operations.

In 5 axis milling, particularly when machining complex components, IDEKO works to optimise cutting conditions and toolpaths. By combining simulation models with machine dynamics analysis, the centre can anticipate potential instabilities and improve machining performance.

“We don't approach optimisation as an isolated adjustment to a single parameter. We see it as an engineering challenge that brings together the process, the machine, the manufacturing conditions and the requirements of the component,” explains Harkaitz Urreta, Market Director at IDEKO.

Machine and process dynamics and industrial digitalisation

Machine and process dynamics will be another key focus of IDEKO's presence at MetalMadrid. Vibrations are among the main factors limiting precision, surface quality and productivity in many manufacturing operations. They can lead to defects, shorten tool life and restrict the operating conditions of production equipment.

To address these challenges, IDEKO offers technologies covering everything from the characterisation and diagnosis of machine dynamic behaviour to the design and integration of vibration control and damping solutions.

At the exhibition, the centre will demonstrate its expertise in identifying the root causes of dynamic problems, predicting machine and process behaviour, and implementing control strategies that enable more stable and productive manufacturing operations.

One example is DynAQ, a portable tool developed by IDEKO to measure and diagnose vibration problems in machines and industrial equipment. By helping identify the causes of vibration and determine appropriate corrective measures, DynAQ contributes to improving equipment efficiency, reliability and availability.

“At IDEKO, we have the expertise to tackle resonance, instability and other dynamic phenomena that arise during the operation of industrial machines and equipment. Advanced simulation plays a fundamental role in this work, allowing us to analyse structural and dynamic behaviour, assess alternative designs and predict how equipment will respond under different operating conditions,” adds Harkaitz Urreta.

IDEKO will also present solutions designed to support the digitalisation of machines, manufacturing processes and production plants. By integrating advanced sensors, monitoring systems and data analytics tools, the centre helps manufacturers gain greater insight into the performance of their equipment and production processes. This enables them to assess machine condition, identify potential anomalies and make better-informed decisions to improve operational efficiency.

Combining four decades of manufacturing expertise with digital technologies also allows IDEKO to develop solutions tailored to the specific needs of different industrial environments, turning shop-floor data into valuable insights for process optimisation.

Visitors will find IDEKO at stand 4G03 in Hall 4 of IFEMA Madrid, within the joint exhibition space organised by the Spanish Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association (AFM). The event will provide an opportunity to explore the centre's technological capabilities, discuss specific manufacturing challenges with its experts and access IDEKO's new Digitalisation Guide.
