IDEKO has remained focused on transferring technology to the market, taking the results from research to production plants, and helping our companies to access innovation for a priority goal - to contribute to competitiveness in the industrial fabric. IK4-IDEKO has a new space to carry R&D projects, validation tests and trials, and testing technological developments at an advanced stage, close to being manufactured for all the agents involved the value chain for grinding and industrial digitalization
Therefore the Digital Grinding Innovation Hub, which represents the start of the new node in the Basque Country for developing technology applied to the field of digitalization and grinding.
This facility constitutes an open space that can boost collaboration and synergy among technological centres, universities, companies, suppliers, users, SMEs and start-ups, thus speeding up the technological and digital transformation of our business world.
The Digital Grinding Innovation Hub is a project spread around several locations; as well as the IDEKO installations, there are branches in nearby places such as the University of the Basque Country, Mondragon Unibersitatea, the Machine Tool Institute and technological centres of Alianza IK4, Tekniker and Ceit. In addition, it is an initiative created to boost cooperation with businesses in the vicinity, aiming for local collaboration, and from the start has had the support of leading companies in equipment manufacturing, such as DANOBAT and SORALUCE, Fagor Automation, and KortaGroup, among others. However, it has an undeniable international presence, through setting up collaboration areas with the main entities that are benchmarks in their specialities, with companies like SCHAEFLER, also in the scientific field with Bremen University and the ETH in Zurich.
With six million euros invested in equipment just in the IDEKO facilities, the specialisation and size of the DGIH constitutes a unique push in Europe towards positioning the Basque Country as a leading ecosystem in innovation.
