IDEKO will share its latest developments in advanced manufacturing at the European forum Transfiere 2023

The technology centre will feature prominently in the European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation, to be held from 15 to 17 February at the Palais des Fairs and Congresses (FYCMA) in Málaga.

IDEKO will present its latest technological developments in advanced manufacturing, robotics and automation or artificial intelligence applied to manufacturing from its exhibition space located within the FEDIT stand.

In addition, the head of National R&D Projects and Programs of the center, Ander Azkarate, will present a successful case in technology transfer and development of new products in robotics and automation, within the program of conferences “Technology Transfer in the Basque Country to boost a  digital and sustainable industrial model.

IDEKO research centre, member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA), will have a prominent presence at the European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation, Transfiere. The Forum will be held from 15 to 17 February at the Palais des Fairs and Congresses (FYCMA) in Málaga, Andalusia.

This forum is a great opportunity for IDEKO to show how to apply technology in the development of innovative solutions that are able to improve production processes. It is also a perfect opportunity to establish contacts and  potential European partnerships.

To share its experiences with the sector, during the three days of the event, the research center will have a booth at the stand of the Federación Española de Centros Tecnológico (FEDIT), located in the Technology Room. From there, IDEKO will unveil its latest technological innovations in the areas of advanced manufacturing, robotics and automation, artificial intelligence applied to manufacturing, precision machines and processes, simulation and digital twins, active and intelligent components, as well as processes for strategic parts and sectors.

Success case in industrial automation

In addition to having an exhibition area, it will also be part of the conference programme of the forum. In particular, Ander Azkarate, head of National R & D Projects and Programmes at IDEKO, will present together with Ibai Inziarte, director of Innovation of the Aldakin Group, a success case in terms of technology transfer and development of new products in robotics and industrial automation.

The session, entitled “From basic research to the development of new products in robotics and automation in the industry”, will take place on Thursday  16 February from 11:15 to 11:30 at the FYCMA Innovation Room. During the presentation, the results of MALGUROB, an ELKARTEK programme aimed at developing the capabilities of a robot to be able to exercise effective control over key variables in manufacturing processes, will be released.

By the support of programmes such as ELKARTEK, the research centre is able to develop knowledge that can be used to develop new technologies for industry.

“We have managed to embedded in the robot and in manufacturing environments the systems that allow the machine to be able to perceive the state of the process and the ability to make decisions and act,” says Dr. Azkarate. In this sense, within the project, IDEKO has used its expertise in the development of perception systems based on 3D vision to apply it to the control of the productive process. Thanks to this type of technology, it is possible to adapt the operation of the robot to its working environment, especially regarding its positioning and handling of parts.

The presentation of the IDEKO researcher is part of the conference program “Technology Transfer in the Basque Country to Promote a Digital and Sustainable Industrial Model”, will be moderated by Cristina  Oyón, director of Technology, Innovation and Sustainability of the SPRI Group, the Basque Agency for Business Development.

In addition to IDEKO, other companies and technology centres, members of the BRTA alliance will also share their experiences and success stories, initiatives that, as in the MALGUROB project, demonstrate the great adaptability of the Basque industry to technological changes, while facing a digital and sustainable transition.

About Transfiere

This event, which celebrates its 12th edition in 2023, is the largest meeting on knowledge transfer and promotion of R&D+i in Spain, an unbeatable opportunity for companies in the sector and technology centers to share experiences, results of collaborative projects and success cases in innovation for the industry.

The European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation, Transfiere, featured in its previous edition with the participation of over 200 speakers, over 2,000 professionals and over 30 universities. This event, which celebrates its 12th edition, is the main R&D+i meeting in southern Europe, an opportunity to share scientific and technological knowledge, promote innovation and connect science and business.

The program of thematic panels and conferences of Transfiere will make it possible to know first-hand and in different spaces the most respected voices in the scientific, technological and business fields, as well as detailed and updated information on opportunities for internalization, artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation and industry 4.0, among other aspects.
