FEDIT report underlines the contribution of technology centres to the Spanish economy

• According to the study, every euro invested in technology centres such as IDEKO generates €11 in GDP and more than €5 in public revenue.

The Spanish Federation of Technology Centres (FEDIT) presented last week, 29 April, the report “Value and Economic Impact of Technology Centres”, which highlights the contribution of organisations such as IDEKO to the Spanish economy. The study estimates an overall impact of €7.702 billion in GDP, 127,371 full-time equivalent jobs and €3.947 billion in public revenues.

The report, prepared by the Valencian Institute of Economic Research (Ivie), concludes that every euro invested in technology centres generates €11 in economic activity and more than €5 in public income.

The analysis also evaluates the experience of companies collaborating with technology centres. According to s urvey participants , 85% of companies achieved the expected objectives, 93.5% positively valued the professional relationship, and 73.5% stated they would collaborate again with a Research Center.

In addition, companies associate this technological collaboration with an average increase of 2% in sales and a 0.8-point improvement in profitability.

The report identifies two major sources of economic impact:

• The operational and investment expenditure of technology centres, which reached €765.5 million in 2024 and generated €1.079 billion in GDP and 19,289 jobs.

• The increase in sales linked to technological collaboration, amounting to €6.414 billion and generating a total impact of €6.623 billion in GDP and 108,082 jobs.
