Last news about IDEKO.

The Basque Government’s Deputy Minister for Industrial Promotion, Andoitz Korta, presented the award for the best scientific paper at the Congress.
The latest edition took place in Donostia–San Sebastián from 29 to 31 October 2025 and featured strong participation from the Research Centre.
The R&D and technology transfer work
carried out by IDEKO received special recognition at the latest edition of the
Advanced Manufacturing and Machine Tool Congress.
One of the awards granted during the event went to IDEKO researcher Markel Sanz
for his presentation of the success case in the aerospace sector.
The Deputy Minister for Industrial Promotion of the Basque Government, Andoitz Korta, presented the prize for the best scientific paper delivered by the research community during the closing ceremony held in Donostia.
Out of nearly 40 presentations included in
the technical programme of the congress, the jury selected Sanz’s contribution
as the most outstanding for its excellence in R&D.
Milling digital twin
Markel Sanz’s research introduces a digitalisation solution to optimise milling processes in aerospace manufacturing. Specifically, it describes a digital twin that continuously simulates these machining operations.
The tool predicts and visualises in 3D various process variables such as static deflection, forced vibration, and stability, enabling process optimisation and the prevention of potential errors.
The development was validated through a five-axis machining case involving a steel fin, where the application successfully diagnosed and eliminated surface marks caused by a resonance issue.
IDEKO’s participation in the Advanced Manufacturing and Machine Tool Congress, organised by AFM Cluster, also included five additional presentations, where researchers from the centre showcased cutting-edge advances aimed at improving machine availability, robotics, and machining processes.
In addition, IDEKO participated as a platinum sponsor of the event, reinforcing its commitment to the scientific and technological advancement of the manufacturing sector. Jokin Muñoa, Scientific Director of IDEKO, represented the centre on the scientific committee of the congress.
“This recognition highlights the excellence and impact of our research work, aimed at providing real solutions to the challenges of sustainability, digitalisation and automation facing today’s industry,” emphasises Jokin Muñoa, Scientific Director of IDEKO.
The 24th edition of the congress brought together more than 600 professionals from companies, technology centres and universities in the fields of advanced and digital manufacturing, consolidating its position as a leading national meeting point for the sector.
