The results of studies carried out in research programs on the tribology of equipment for road transport, generation of energy, turbo-machines and industrial machinery indicate the possibility of saving a 10th of the total energy consumption through tribological best practice, which could mean an energy-saving of thousands of millions of euros in Europe alone. In fact, it is estimated that a third of the world energy resources are wasted in friction, wear and corrosion losses.
