The application of robotic solutions in production processes is key to increasing efficiency in industry. The use of robots allows to reliably and safely automate demanding tasks in strategic sectors such as aerospace, power generation or shipbuilding. The research centre IDEKO specialises in the development of technologically innovative systems for advanced manufacturing, and uses this expertise to undertake research in this target area.
The project is aimed at researching new architectures, material and production processes for airplane fuselages for implementation in a connected manufacturing environment, with the objective of producing a new generation of more eco-efficient, competitive, reliable and resistant commercial airplanes.
Through the development of new control and monitoring systems, FUSELAGE pursues the objective of improving the manufacture of large composite structures for the belly fairing and rear fuselage sections of these new aircrafts.
The project seeks to improve the
competitiveness of the participating companies through the study of new
structural concepts and new production processes in an industry 4.0 environment
with composite materials (CFRP, Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer).
