In the field of robotic solutions, IDEKO has put their knowledge into practice as the leading research entity in the European project COROMA, an initiative concluded at the end of 2019, which has served to develop a new concept of smart industrial robots, making it possible to carry out multiple processes for manufacturing metal and composite parts in the naval, aeronautical and energy sectors.
The coordination work performed by Ideko in this project has
contributed to consolidating their leadership in research and development of
new industrial applications. The role as partner has given a fresh impetus to
research in robotics, which has led to several developments in a variety of
scientific areas.
The big gap between today's robots and those of the future can
be summed up in two words: autonomy and cognitive capacity. This is the very
barrier today that prevents most robots used in production lines from
performing non-repetitive operations. Breaking down this barrier could result
in faster production times and lower costs. This is one of the areas the COROMA
project has tackled.
