Definitions, differences from traditional manufacturing, driving factors in the changeover to advanced manufacturing.
The manufacturing world changes and advances day by day. The emergence on the market of new technologies applied to new products enables companies to manufacture products more efficiently. Advanced manufacturing, which brings together the use of innovative technologies, gives an impetus to doing things in a new different way.
Advanced manufacturing can be defined as the application of the most innovative knowledge and technologies for optimising production processes and obtaining new products-services, reducing operating times, improving productivity and efficiency, increasing precision, quality and safety parameters and reducing environmental impact. But it must be borne in mind that advanced manufacturing is not limited solely to the application of the latest market technologies or so-called emerging technologies; integrated and controlled production processes are equally important to make them more efficient. These more efficient processes allow companies to reduce the manufacturing time of the products and adapt to the changes and trends of the markets more rapidly, and to thus provide a more custom product.
