The evolution of the manufacturing industry towards zero-defect manufacturing is an essential step toward a digital and ecological transition that helps achieve the goals of the European Green Deal—a set of initiatives signed by EU member states aimed at achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
To achieve this, the integration of advanced systems that enable real-time data analysis, and the development of artificial intelligence (AI)-based solutions, are key concepts to facilitate production chain monitoring, early error detection, and error compensation.
In this context, the technology center IDEKO, a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA) and a leader in advanced manufacturing, has played a key role in completing four European projects funded by the EU's H2020 program, focused on demonstrating and optimizing manufacturing efficiency through digitalization.
For example, within the Interq initiative, IDEKO has led the development of innovative solutions to achieve comprehensive monitoring of manufacturing processes, prevent failures in time, and ensure the quality hallmark of parts, advancing towards zero-defect manufacturing.
