Ideko Technological Centre was set up in 1986 with the aim to coordinate and plan the technological strategy of leading manufacturers of machine tools and in manufacturing technology. In the past 20 years Ideko has proven to be a dynamic organisation with several milestones such as being the first Technological Centre in obtaining the ISO 9000 certificate for the entire organisation, the design of the first Spanish commercial machine with linear motors in 2001, or having the PRIMA, AMADEUS and SEPMAC projects within the 5th Framework Programme of the EC under its leadership.

Ideko technological centre has been granted a variety of certificates, amongst which the ISO 9000 certificates and the EFQM award.

Ideko belongs to a large number of entities such as the Spanish Federation of Innovation and Technology Organisations, the Basque Network of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Machine Tool Research Foundation.

Ideko is located in Elgoibar, a town of 11,000 inhabitants halfway between Bilbao and San Sebastian, in the very heart of the Basque Country.
