Ideko, Technological Centre specialises in Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology
Ideko is a Technological Centre focused since its founding on the Machine Tool Sector and Manufacturing Technology.
Our main goal is to boost technological innovation of our customers.
Our Innovation Management process hinges on Technology Transfer resulting from research projects, thus completing the R&D&I cycle. We therefore think it important to align the client's strategy and technological development, the deciding factor in improving competitiveness.
Furthermore, at Ideko we are committed to
- being a dynamic organisation promoting knowledge generation and personal development,
- acting in a socially responsible manner, and
- developing a consolidated network with other technological partners, such as for example our participation in marGUNE, a cooperative research centre.
As a result, Ideko has become an international reference in machine tools and manufacturing techniques.

The organisation
The advanced organisation model of Ideko, under continual review, is reflected in all functions. The internal organisation is structured according to the composition and work method of the multidisciplinary teams that develop new technologies and practical applications.
History
Ideko Technological Centre was set up in 1986 with the aim to coordinate and plan the technological strategy of leading manufacturers of machine tools and in manufacturing technology. In the past 20 years Ideko has proven to be a dynamic organisation with several milestones such as being the first Technological Centre in obtaining the ISO 9000 certificate for the entire organisation, the design of the first Spanish commercial machine with linear motors in 2001, or having the PRIMA, AMADEUS and SEPMAC projects within the 5th Framework Programme of the EC under its leadership.
Certificates
Ideko technological centre has been granted a variety of certificates, amongst which the ISO 9000 certificates and the EFQM award.
Entities to which we belong
Ideko belongs to a large number of entities such as the Spanish Federation of Innovation and Technology Organisations, the Basque Network of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Machine Tool Research Foundation.
Institutional Support
Ideko has achieved the support of institutions such as the Provincial Government of Gipuzkoa, the Basque Government, the Ministry for Education and Science, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade or the European Union.

Route description
Ideko is located in Elgoibar, a town of 11,000 inhabitants halfway between Bilbao and San Sebastian, in the very heart of the Basque Country.
