Factory of the Future Clusters

The European project FOCUS coordinated by NTNU-Norway aims to support methods for improved exploitation of results by clustering related PPP FoF projects funded by the European Commission in the framework program H2020.

THE CHALLENGE

The goals of the FOCUS project is to develop a method for clustering and supporting the study of exploitation of results of PPP FoF projects funded by the European Commission in the framework program H2020. This method will be established by observation and study of five clusters around the following areas:
•4DMZ
•Robotics
•Clean Factory
•High precision machining
•Maintenance &Support

THE RESULT

IK4-IDEKO is responsible for driving the cluster Zero Defects Manufacturing, one of the five clusters of FOCUS. It will be IK4-IDEKO"s responsibility to identify the base line of the technologies developed under this manufacturing paradigm, conduct a series of interviews with experts and define a roadmap of future priorities in the field of research related to Zero Defects Manufacturing. Throughout the project, the cluster-leaders have established a Technology Watch where they review the state-of-the-art within their research areas. Thanks to the INNGUMA initiative of IK4-IDEKO, the consortium is able to use professional software to perform the technology watch.
On the other hand, IK4-IDEKO will be responsible for defining a method to study to what extent the exploitation of results from projects is feasible and to establish the quickest way to release it on the market. This method must be synchronised with the project clustering method.
